Why choosing the right ESG partner is important?
When you’re seeking an ESG advisory partner, ensure that they have membership in sustainability organizations like GRI Community and Business Environment Council. The reason being that these organisations and others like them are endorsements of your advisory partner’s skill and experience.
Choose an organisation that has the expertise and capabilities to deliver the ESG advisory that is built specifically for your organisation. Too often, ESG advisory organisations deliver cookie-cutter solutions. The issue with a cookie-cutter solution is that it doesn’t apply to every company. ESG reporting is complex, important, and required. If you don’t have a clear plan for ensuring that your ESG reporting is on point and meets the requirements of the regulatory agencies, you risk running afoul of the rules, regulations, and laws that you’re required to abide by.
Increasing Demand for Sustainability
When it comes to sustainability, the key is not to simply meet the necessary criteria but to stay ahead of the curve. The requirements, both regulatory and from public and investor pressure, are constantly increasing when it comes to sustainability. The public wants to work with and invest in companies that are sustainable. Therefore, your ESG plans should include the constant improvement of your sustainability, not simply meeting today’s criteria.
The emphasis on sustainability needs to be increased. An organisation’s sustainability, not just here in Singapore and Hong Kong but around the world, is no longer optional but a requirement. Any organisation operating inside the EU, Singapore, the United States, and other major markets must prove their sustainability. The stock markets also require sustainability reporting in many of the same ways that they require financial reporting.
Does your organisation prioritise sustainability? Do your ESG plans include the constant improvement of your organisation’s sustainability?
